On a Sunday 24th July 2pm start – organised by Phyllis Hadley.

Josh Pollard completed a winning double this weekend as he followed up yesterday’s success in winning the Brighton Parks men’s singles by coming out on top in this afternoon’s Jack Ellis Tournament. Phyllis arranged her usual picker mix of pairings and the 16 men played 39 games over 5 rounds. At the end Josh had won with 29 pts, with Alan Swift came second with 24 pts and then William Delabre, Iain Stewart and Simon Sumner all with 23 pts. Thanks to all that played, Phyllis for organising and all those who came along to watch.

2016 Anne Leegood Tournament (Ladies doubles)

Held on Sunday 3rd July at 2pm, organised by Neil Dickson.

A lovely afternoon was spent in a sunny Hove Park, well done to everybody. All 12 ladies played their part in making it an enjoyable Tournament to play in and also to watch. After 4 rounds of 8 games each, we were all able to sit down and enjoy Emma’s lovely cake. Carmel came 3rd with 19 pts, Winnie was 2nd with 20 pts and the winner this year was Emma Burnett with 21 pts.

2016 JIM & MARJORIE DENMAN MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT

This was played on Sunday September 25th at 1pm – organised by Tony Denman/Mick Cox.

The points were added up and the winning eight were Penny, Pam, Patricia and Michelle from the ladies section and James D, Josh, Fariss and Stephen from the mens section. The semi-finals were good fairly close games which lead to Penny, Michelle, Josh and Fariss having the chance to play in the final. The outcome was that Josh gained sixteen points and beat Fariss by one point and Michelle won twenty points to beat Penny who gained eleven points. We now have two new names on the trophies as neither Josh (yes something he has not won!) and Michelle are both first time winners.

2011 Club Tournament Results

The 2011 finals day was a great event for both the spectators and those who played. The eventual winners were:

Josh Pollard beat Tony Denman to take the men’s singles title. Likely to be the first of many!

Keeping it in the family Patricia Pollard lifted the ladies singles title.

Des O’Dell and Andy Primm came through a hard 3 sets against Farris Barakat and James Denman to be crowned mens doubles champions.

Patricia Pollard and Sasha Long became Ladies Doubles champs beating Rita O’Regan and Morna Fox.

Patricia completed a clean sweep when she ended up winning the mixed doubles with Des. The duel at dusk saw them seeing off a stiff challenge from Dave T and Elaine Luckly.

2011 Anne Leegood Tournament

Jointly won by Margaret and Julia

ARCHIVE - A trip down memory lane !

The Anne Leegood final from 1970. Brian Denman umpiring here, clearly disqualifies Lynn Patterson for wearing a tablecloth, the eventual winners Betty Morris and Monica Muschamp to this day feel it was the correct decision. Lynn left Hove the following year to form her own club, Rookery.
